Wild Body Workout – Feel the Burn Hill Sprints

Feel the Burn with this Wild Body Workout!

Hill sprinting is one of the best workouts for getting a lean fit physique. Sprinting increases strength and endurance, and burns fat. Sprinting is definitely a WILD workout.

Find a hill that is going to take you about 30 seconds to run up. If you can’t find one that is that long you could try a long set of stairs, or shorter hills.

You can sprint on any surface type: trails, road, stairs, grass, snow, or on cobblestones like I did in the video.

It’s good to do several repeats of the sprints with a rest in between. For this workout I did 5 sprints for 30 seconds each time, with 3 minutes rest in between each one. The more you do them the faster you get, but they don’t get any easier!

Hill sprinting is a fun an exciting way to get a fit wild body and you can do them almost anywhere in a short amount of time. Give them a try!

Check out the video for more tips and information on hill sprinting and to watch me push myself to the max on the steepest hill in town!

Wild Body Workouts “Rock”!

In this video I will show you 3 simple exercises you can do in 5 minutes to get a good workout using objects in nature, around your home or in the urban jungle.

I used rocks because they can be found almost anywhere but if you can’t find any you can use paint cans, water jugs, logs, heavy fruits, free weights, bricks or any other object that can fit easily in your hands but still has some weight to it.

Exercise can doesn’t have to be a pre-planned part of your day, it can be a spontaneous experience. Once it becomes a part of your daily lifestyle, you won’t even have to think about working out, much like it would be for a WILD human.

New Years Resolution Success: 3 Tips for Making Changes and Sticking to Them

NewYearsResolutionResize

As the new year approaches now is a great time to start thinking about making changes in your life. Traditionally we call these changes New Years Resolutions, however, I believe that there is no better time to make positive changes in your life than TODAY. So let’s call them NOW resolutions! Why wait for New Years eve to come and go before implementing changes when you could start making improvements in your health, fitness, diet, relationships, job etc., NOW!

We all know that the hardest part of making New Years resolutions is actually sticking to them, but why? The main reason it seems much easier to fail than succeed is because we try to make huge overnight changes in ourselves without using any strategies to help support us on our journey. We also expect positive results right away and when they don’t happen, or we hit a small bump in the road, we give up.

Use these 3 key tips to help you successfully make the changes you want to make in your life, and to help keep you motivated even when the going gets tough.

1.  Be accountable

Challenge a friend or partner to make the change with you, then you’ll both be committed and responsible to one another to stick to the plan. You can check in on each others progress and motive each other to meet your mutual goal. Going through a journey together is always much easier than slogging it out alone. 74590937548585093_ShhkuWg7_c

Join a group of people that meets on a regular basis like a running group, quitting smoking group, healthy food potlucks etc. The group will be a strong source of motivation and inspiration to keep you going. It’s also harder to back out and give up as they are expecting you to show up next time, and you get a sense of not wanting to let them down.

Announce your goal to friends, family, or to a wider audience through other channels such as a blog, Youtube videos, Stickk.com etc. This is the best way to be accountable for achieving what you have set out to do. People will be curious of your progress and ask you how it’s going. It’s also really great motivation to talk about your goals on a regular basis and describe any issues or struggles that you may be going through. The community around you can offer words of insight and inspiration to help you work through it and keep going.

2.  Surround yourself with the right people

Choose to be around people that have made the changes you want to make and are where you want to be. It is said that you become more like the people that you spend the most time around, so choose wisely. If you want to be healthier, spend time with healthy people. If you want to quit smoking then try to avoid hanging out with smokers.

We can’t always push everyone out of our lives because they can’t help us reach our goal, but remember, we’re all on our own journey in life, and if you need to take a break from certain people to do what you need to do to be happy then so be it. You won’t regret it in the long run, and you may even inspire them to make changes as well!

3.  Set rewards and remind yourself as often as possible

kevin jackfruit smallWe humans are very reward driven, so if there’s something you’ve been wanting to treat yourself to then allow yourself to have it after meeting your goal or a smaller milestone along the way. Think healthy rewards like going to see that movie you wanted to see, that new pair of running shoes, or splurging on some expensive health food that you wouldn’t normally buy (for me it’s exotic fruit).

A helpful strategy is to leave little reminder notes in places you will see them. Choose strategic places that you will see several times per day like your front door, your refrigerator, your cell phone screen saver or the mirror in your bathroom. Every time you see your goal or reward it will serve to motivate you even more.

Here’s to making positive changes in our lives and sticking to our goals!

Everyone at Wild Body Wellness wishes you a happy new year and good luck in achieving your New Years Resolutions and your NOW resolutions! It’s never too late to make big changes. Once you truly decide to change and take action, the universe will guide you in the right direction and help you succeed. You never know what is waiting for you in life until you start your journey.
